DEXA Bone Densitometry Preparation

  1. Please do not to take any type of calcium supplement (vitamins, Tums etc…) for 24 hours. 
  2. Patients must wait at least 10 days for a DEXA if they have had a Nuclear med exam, CT or IVP with contrast, or any Barium studies. 
  3. You will be asked if there is any possibility  of pregnancy -  a pregnant patient cannot be done.
  4. Please do not wear pants with a zipper if at all possible
  5. On the day of the test, please bring any previous DEXA’s you may have had a different facility.
